COACH'S QUOTE
"This team has improved immensely in a few short weeks," said head coach Jim Plumer. "It's definitely disappointing to not get the win, but we certainly played well enough against a very strong opponent. We've got to learn how to finish."

HOW IT HAPPENED
  • Quinnipiac opened the scoring at 4:25 in the first period when Randi Marcon received a pass from Brooke Bonsteel and lifted a shot over the right shoulder of Škodová.
  • Kilberg tied it up for the Catamounts 1:15 later when Taylor Flaherty sent her on a partial breakaway. The sophomore forward snapped a shot that beat Ives short-side for her first of the season.
  • Vermont took the lead on two quick goals before the midway point of the second period. Ali O'Leary collected a pass from Kilberg and whistled a shot through the legs of Ives with 11:06 left in the frame. Gorecki registered her first goal of the season 39 seconds later on another assist by Kilberg.
  • The Bobcats cut the lead with 18 seconds left in the middle period on a power play goal by House. Kati Tabin fired a shot from the point and House cleaned up the rebound to make it 3-2 heading into the third period.
  • Quinnipiac had several isolated chances to tie the game despite being stymied by the Catamounts' defense. The closest opportunity came when Lexie Adzija intercepted a pass and neared the Vermont goal all alone. The Quinnipiac rookie rang a shot off the crossbar, keeping the game tied.
  • Vorster tied the game for the Bobcats with 31.2 seconds left following a faceoff in the offensive zone. Quinnipiac won the draw and Brooke Bonsteel dished a pass to Vorster who snuck a shot between the pads of Škodová.
  • Vermont trailed 4-2 in overtime shots on goal, but came close to winning when Theresa Schafzahl's wrist shot was deflected and almost fooled the Quinnipiac goaltender.
NOTES
  • Blanka Škodová's start in goal was the first of the Czech Republic native's young career. Corinne McCool also made her collegiate debut, lining up as a forward.
  • Olivia Kilberg's three points were a single-game career high, while senior captain Alyssa Gorecki matched her career-best three points.
  • The Vermont defense held Quinnipiac to zero shots for the first 15 minutes of the third period.
