LAST TIME OUT | New Hampshire Highlights
UVM senior
Trae Bell-Haynes recorded his third 20-point effort in the last four games as the Catamounts held off twin state rival New Hampshire 67-56 on Thursday night. Bell-Haynes scored a game-high 20 points with 18 points coming the second half. He was 7-of-11 from the field, pulled down four rebounds, and tallied a pair of steals.
Ernie Duncan was close behind with 17 points on 6-of-11 shooting and knocked down four triples.
Cam Ward notched his second consecutive double-digit performance with 10 points.
APPROACHING THE 1,400-PLATEAU
Bell-Haynes is only 11 points shy of reaching 1,400 points for his UVM career. The Toronto, Ontario native would become only the 11th Catamount in program history to surpass the 1,400-career point plateau.
LEAGUE PLAY DOMINANCE
As a team during league play, the Catamounts lead the America East pack in scoring offense (76.4 ppg), scoring defense (62.6 ppg allowed), scoring margin (+13.8), field goal percentage (.525), and three-point percentage defense (.287).
LATEST NCAA RPI RANKINGS
Vermont leads all America East schools at No. 79 in the latest NCAA RPI rankings. Albany follows at No. 164, UMBC sits at No. 167, Stony Brook trails at No. 196, and Hartford has landed at No. 241.
STREAKY CLEAN
UVM will try to extend a pair of winning streaks on Sunday. The Cats own the longest regular season conference winning streak in the history of America East at 26 games and Vermont's eight-game overall winning streak is tied for the fourth-longest streak in Division I.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
The Hawks were selected eighth in the America East Preseason Coaches' Poll but sit third in the league standings with a 4-2 record. In conference play, Hartford has the second-highest scoring offense behind Vermont at 76.0 points per game. The Hawks also own the best three-point percentage at .442 against America East rivals. John Carroll enters Sunday's matinee with a 15.0 scoring average in six league games, which is tied with Bell-Haynes for the eighth-highest average. Jason Dunne follows with 12.0 points per game in conference play and has reached double figures in 10 out of the last 11 games. On the perimeter, Travis Weatherington has sank .680 (17-for-25) of his attempts on league opponents to lead all America East long-distance shooters.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Catamounts have controlled the all-time series with the Hawks and hold a 47-23 edge. UVM will be looking for its ninth straight victory over Hartford. Since the two programs met in the 2003 America East Semifinal, the Green and Gold are 30-2 against the Hawks. Last year, the Cats rolled to an 85-54 win in the conference home opener, then beat the Hawks 79-66 in West Hartford.
