HANOVER, N.H. – The Catamounts could not overcome three first-half goals by Dartmouth and dropped Saturday's contest 5-2 to their twin state rival. Vermont evens its record at 4-4 while Dartmouth records its fifth straight win and improves to 5-2. Â

The Big Green struck first in the eighth minute. On a free kick from the right side of the 18-yard box, Amadu Kutesah chipped a ball towards the far post where Wyatt Omsberg lined a shot through traffic into the left side of the net.

Dartmouth added its second goal of the afternoon about 10 minutes later. After tracking down a long through ball on the edge of the box, Tyler Dowse sent a cross in front of the net and Tiger Graham used his body to finish the scoring opportunity. Â Â Â

The Catamounts responded in the 25th minute on a penalty kick. Mikel Kabala notched his first goal of the season after placing the kick into the top left corner.

With under six minutes left in the first half, the Big Green worked a 2-on-1 breakaway for their third goal of the game. Justin Donawa pushed the ball into the box and dished a cross to Eduvie Ikoba, who buried a one-timer into the left side of the net.

UVM had a chance to cut into the deficit once again in the 43rd minute. After tracking down a failed clear by Dartmouth's backline,
Trevor Colazzo tried to bend a shot inside of the far post but the attempt bounced just inches too wide. Â

In the 57th minute, the Big Green added their fourth goal with an own goal. Â

UVM was presented with another penalty kick opportunity in the 80th minute.
Jon Arnar Barðdal took the kick and booted a shot towards the right side of the net, but the attempt was stopped by Dartmouth goalie Henry Stusnick (1Â save).
Geo Alves tracked down the rebound and put a shot on frame, but Stusnick made another diving save.

As the clock ticked down to the final minutes,
Justin Freitas tallied this third goal of the year in the 87th minute. On Dartmouth's ensuing possession, Graham knocked in his second goal of the game with a header.
