Smithfield, R.I. – The Catamounts suffered a 4-1 loss at Bryant on Friday afternoon in the non-conference finale. Vermont closes the books on 4-4-1 record during non-league play while Bryant improves to 6-1-2 and stays unbeaten during the month of September.

In the 36th minute, Bryant jumped out to a 1-0 lead after Remi Manna played a through ball to Cayla D'Amico, who worked around UVM keeper
Coco Speckmaier (4 saves) and finished into the empty net.
The Cats had a chance with two minutes remaining in the first period. UVM lined a cross into the six-yard box, but Bryant goalie Rachel Brightman jumped on the pass to kill the scoring threat.
With less than a minute left before halftime, the Bulldogs stretched their lead to 2-0. Rachel Benz sent a cross towards the far post where Katie Cronin tapped a shot into the right side of the net.
Bryant added its third goal of the day in the 57th minute. Haley Reddish lined a strike from 30 yards out and placed the attempt into the top right corner. Less than 10 minutes later, Arin Smalls tacked on the Bulldogs' final goal of the contest with a breakaway.
Ella Bankert helped UVM get on the scoreboard with her third goal of the season.
Sarah Martin dished a cross that was deflected by a Bulldog defender, but the freshman was in the right place at the right time to finish the loose ball.
