LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts came within a goal of erasing a five-goal deficit in the second half, but could not find the equalizer in a tough 13-9 non-conference defeat at Ohio State on Feb. 6.
Molly Little,
Meredith Moore, and
Brynne Yarranton each found the back of the net twice for UVM.
Courtney Cole,
Elena McWright, and
Becca Olsen rounded out the green and gold's scoring attack with one goal apiece.
Alison Bolt added a pair of assists and
Maddy Kuras saved 11 shots for the Cats in net.
IF SOME IS GOOD, MOORE IS BETTER
Moore was named America East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. Moore added two goals to UVM's offensive attack at Ohio State. The senior converted a free-position attempt and picked up a ground ball.
A LITTLE BIT OF THIS, A LITTLE BIT OF THAT
Little earned an America East Rookie of the Week nod on Monday. Little scored a pair of goals against the Buckeyes and scooped up two ground balls. The freshman led the team with four draw controls.
SCOUTING COLGATE
The Raiders host the Catamounts in their season opener for the fifth straight season. Colgate was picked to finish fifth in the Patriot League Preseason Coaches' Poll. Last year, the Raiders finished 8-9 with a 6-3 record in conference play but suffered a first-round exit at Lehigh in the Patriot League Tournament. The Raiders had a pair of Patriot League Preseason All-Conference selections – Isabel Kreitler and Haley O'Hanlon. Kreitl racked up 47 points on 32 goals and 15 goals as a junior and earned Second Team All-Patriot League honors. O'Hanlon, a two-time First Team All-Patriot League recipient, scored 40 points on 25 goals and 15 assists as a sophomore.
SERIES HISTORY
Despite trailing 10-8 in the all-time series versus Colgate, the Catamounts have posted three straight wins against the Raiders and four of the last five meetings. Vermont opened the series, which dates back to 1982, with two victories in the first three games.
