RALLY AGAINST CANCER
UVM Athletics will continue to raise awareness for cancer research through its annual Rally Against Cancer initiative, presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets, to benefit the University of Vermont Cancer Center. In recognition of the ongoing fight against cancer, UVM will be wearing pink socks during the game. Fans are encouraged to wear pink and show their support of Vermont's cancer research initiative.
GETTING BACK ON TRACK
The Green and Gold have scored a pair of goals in each of their last two games after the group was held to only two combined goals in their previous four contests.
Brooke Jenkins has netted two of the four goals and provided an assist during the two-game stretch. Jenkins ranks seventh in America East with five goals and two assists.
LAST TIME OUT
The Catamounts overcame a 2-0 deficit and scored twice in the second half to earn a 2-2 draw at UMass Lowell on Thursday night. The Catamounts cut the deficit in half in the 58th minute.
Sarah Martin gathered a loose ball in the box and tapped in a low shot into the right side of the net. UVM came through with the equalizer in the 75th minute. After Martin had her shot blocked by a River Hawk defender, Jenkins put the rebound into the bottom right corner for the game-tying score.
WORKING OVERTIME
The 2017 Cats have played six games with at least one overtime period this season. This year marks the fifth time (2016, 2014, 2013, 2011) under head coach
Kristi Lefebvre that one of her UVM teams has played at least six overtime games. The Green and Gold are 3-1-2 in overtime matches this season – the most overtime victories and highest overtime winning percentage (.667) during Lefebvre's time in Burlington.
CAREER COACHING WINS LIST
Lefebvre has tallied 38 wins during her tenure with the Catamounts and she is only three wins shy of tying Jodi Kenyon for second place on the program's all-time wins list. In her first season at the helm in 2011, the Catamounts earned a berth into the America East Tournament for the first time in five years and she has guided the Green and Gold to three semifinals appearances during her time in Burlington – the most by a Vermont head coach.
SCOUTING MAINE
The Black Bears were picked to finish in a sixth-place tie, behind the Catamounts, in the 2017 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. Maine has tried to find some consistency recently but has settled for a 3-3 split over its last six games. The Black Bears have four players tied for the team lead with two goals – Nicole Bailey, Kayla Brace, Mikayla Morin, and Kendra Ridley. Emilie Andersen sits in a second-place tie among the top assist leaders in the conference with four assists. Goalie Annalena Kriebisch holds a share of the league lead with four clean sheets.
INSIDE THE SERIES
The Cats hold a 14-10-4 edge over their conference foe. In what has become a heated league rivalry over the last few seasons, the Catamounts and Black Bears have played to either a tie or one-goal game in each of the last five meetings. UVM is 3-3-4 against Maine in the last decade and will try to stay unbeaten against the Black Bears in Burlington for the fourth straight meeting.
