FINAL SCORE: No. 6 Vermont 1, No. 2 Binghamton 0
VESTAL, N.Y. – Brooke Jenkins scored what proved to be the game-winner with just eight minutes remaining to lift the sixth-seeded Vermont women's soccer team to a 1-0 win over No. 2 Binghamton in the America East Semifinals Sunday afternoon.

The Catamounts advance to the America East Championship for the first time in program history and will travel to No. 5 Stony Brook next weekend with a trip to the NCAA Tournament on the line.
 
Vermont improves to 9-8-2 overall, while Binghamton – the co-regular season champions in America East - finish the season 11-4-4.
 
"Our defending has been solid, it hasn't been easy on the road," head coach Kristi Lefebvre said. "We've used a lot of different players, we've had to make some changes with some injuries but they've worked hard for each other and it's nice to be in the final."
 
Vermont's best chance in a scoreless first 45 minutes came on a corner kick in the 16th minute. Sarah Martin's left-footed ball found the forehead of Christina Barry whose driven header was cleared off the line by a Bearcat defender.
 
Binghamton carried the play for the majority of the second half but the Catamount defense was up to the task. Coco Speckmaier (five saves) made a diving stop to her left on a shot labeled for the top corner from Dora Hayes in the 68th minute. And then Casey Garfinkel cleared the Catamount goal line as a shot from Binghamton's Kayla Saager rolled towards an empty UVM net.
 
That set the stage for Jenkins' heroics. Savana Yurick collected a Taylor Palmer pass down the left flank and dribbled towards goal. Yurick played a low ball across the box, Palmer was taken out trying to one-time the pass leaving Jenkins wide open on the back side. She sent a hard drive past Bearcat keeper Katie Hatziyianis and into the net.
 
The Cats and Seawolves will meet on Sunday, Nov. 5 at 1 p.m. on Long Island to decide the America East Champion.
