LAST TIME OUT | Maine Highlights
UVM junior
Savana Yurick scored the eventual game-winning goal late in the second half for the Catamounts in a 1-0 conference victory over Maine on Sunday. With 10 minutes left in the contest,
Sarah Martin dished a through ball from the right side of the field to a sprinting
Colby Snyder, who lofted a cross from the end line into the box. Yurick collected the pass and booted the game-winning goal inside of the near post with a right-footed shot.
HOME COOKING
The 2017 Cats have recorded the second-highest home winning percentage (.750) during head coach
Kristi Lefebvre's tenure. With its win over Maine, UVM improved to 4-1-1 at Virtue Field this season. The 2011 team set the mark for the best home record (5-1-1) and winning percentage (.786) under Lefebvre.
LUCKY NUMBER SEVEN
With one more win, the Catamounts will claim their third straight seven-win season. In the history of the program, UVM has posted consecutive seven-plus win seasons from 1979-84 and again from 1986-93.
CAREER COACHING WINS LIST
Lefebvre has tallied 39 wins during her tenure with the Catamounts and she is only two wins shy of tying Jodi Kenyon for second place on the program's all-time wins list. In her first season at the helm in 2011, the Catamounts earned a berth into the America East Tournament for the first time in five years and she has guided the Green and Gold to three semifinals appearances during her time in Burlington – the most by a Vermont head coach.
SCOUTING ALBANY
The two-time defending America East champion Great Danes were slated to finish second in the 2017 America East Preseason Coaches' Poll. Junior forward Mariah Williams has been Albany's top scorer this season with four goals. Senior forward Vivian Vega, who is tied for first on Albany's career goals list, follows with three scores. Freshman midfielder Miranda Badovinac and junior defender Caroline Capp are tied for the team lead with three assists each. In net, freshman netminder Andrea Leitner has started 11 games and she has made 45 saves during her rookie campaign.
SCOUTING HARTFORD
The Hawks were picked as the America East preseason favorite coming into the season and the preseason frontrunner is unbeaten in six of its last seven contests. Hartford has the top scoring offense in the league with 70 points on 26 goals and 18 assists. Sophomores Kaila Lozada and Bridgette Alexander are the top scoring tandem in the conference with a combined 31 points. The pair have netted six goals apiece while Lozada has the edge with four assists. Freshman goalie Maia Perez has seen the most minutes (1,362) between the posts of any America East keeper and she is also tied for third in the league with a pair of clean sheets.
INSIDE THE SERIES
Vermont holds a 12-8-1 all-time record over league rival Albany, but the Great Danes have reached the win column in the last four meetings. The two programs have met in the America East Tournament twice in the last five years.
Sunday will be a rematch of last year's America East Semifinal where the Hawks squeaked by the Catamounts 1-0. UVM has topped Hartford a total of five times in the series and the Green and Gold will look to capture their first win in West Hartford since 2005.
