DURHAM, N.H. – Laura McHoul tallied six points and Krissy Schafer and Devon Croke each recorded a hat trick as the New Hampshire Wildcats held off the Vermont Catamounts, 12-9, in America East women's lacrosse action.

Vanessa VanderZalm paced the Vermont attack scoring five of the Catamounts' nine goals. Jenna James,
Alison Bolt and
Courtney Cole also scored for UVM.

The Catamounts scored the first goal of the game off the stick of VanderZalm to take a 1-0 lead. The Wildcats responded with three straight goals to pull out ahead 3-1 with 22:43 left in the first half. VanderZalm's second tally of the game at the 19:47 mark halted the UNH rally, but the Wildcats answered again with three consecutive goals to close the half and took a 6-2 lead into the break.

Vermont rallied in the second half, scoring five goals in the first seven minutes of the stanza. VanderZalm's free position goal at the 24:29 mark cut UNH's lead to 7-6. Croke netted her 12th goal of the season on the next possession for New Hampshire to push its lead to two, but
Alison Bolt's 25th goal of the year cut the lead back to one, 8-7, with 23 minutes remaining. That would be as close as UVM could get the rest of the way.

Croke and McHoul scored back-to-back goals to extend UNH's lead to two and the Wildcats out scored UVM 4-2 over the final 20 minutes of the game.

Maddy Kuras made six saves in the Vermont net, while Cat Sennott was credited with six saves and picked up the win for New Hampshire.

Vermont has a 13-day layoff between games following Saturday's contest at New Hampshire. UVM closes out the regular season with three games in eight days. The Catamounts return to action on April 23 with a pair of road games at UMBC and versus Coastal Carolina (April 25) at Maryvale School in Lutherville, Maryland. UVM wraps up the regular season hosting Binghamton on April 30 at Virtue Field.
