BURLINGTON, Vt. – Vanessa VanderZalm and Alison Bolt combined for nine goals to lead the Vermont Catamounts to a 13-2 win over visiting UMass Lowell in America East women's lacrosse action at Virtue Field on Wednesday. UVM picks up its first league win of the season (1-2) and moves to 5-7 overall. UMass Lowell falls to 1-11 on the year and 0-3 in the conference.

VanderZalm netted five goals and added a pair of assists, while Bolt chipped in four tallies and one helper to pace Vermont.
 
Taylor Sokol and Kaylan Dimodugno accounted for the scoring for the River Hawks, netting one goal each.
 
Vermont jumped out to a 3-0 lead on goals from Bailey Saneman, Bolt and VanderZalm. Dimodugno got the River Hawks on the board at 16:54, but VanderZalm and Bolt scored back-to-back goals to push UVM's lead to 5-1 with 11:04 left in the half.
 
UMass Lowell scored again with 5:52 on Sokol's 10th goal of the season, but that was the end of the scoring for the River Hawks the rest of the way.
 
The Catamounts rattled off four more goals to take a 9-2 advantage into halftime.
 
UVM shutout the River Hawks in the second stanza, out scoring UMass Lowell 4-0 to close the game.
 
Maddy Kuras and Catherine Green split time in the Vermont net. Kuras picked up the win with four stops, while Green added one save. Courtney Barrett was credited with six saves for UMass Lowell.
