CatamounTV Highlights - Colgate

LAST TIME OUT
Vermont stands at 1-1 on the year after opening the season with back-to-back home games. The Catamounts earned a 14-12 win over Colgate on February 20. Alison Bolt netted a hat trick and added two assists and eight different Catamounts tallied a goal. Freshman Maddy Kuras made seven stops to earn her first collegiate victory in net.

BOLT NAMED AMERICA EAST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK
Alison Bolt was named the America East Offensive Player of the Week on Monday. She recorded a team-high five points in the win over Colgate, her first five points of the season.

VANDERZALM IN THE RECORD BOOKS
Senior Vanessa VanderZalm made her season debut in the win over Colgate. She netted two goals and became the seventh player in program history to surpass the 150 career-point mark. She needs seven goals to move into sixth among the all-time scoring leaders at Vermont.

VanderZalm ranks among the NCAA active career leaders in five categories:
2nd in ground balls (147); 6th in caused turnovers (90); 7th in draw controls (208); 8th in draws per game (3.92) and she is 13th among active scoring leaders (151 points).

KURAS THE KEEPER
Freshman Maddy Kuras earned her first career win with seven stops against Colgate. She has started both games and ranks 18th among the Division I leaders in saves per game (9.5 pg).

SCOUTING MARIST
The Red Foxes went 7-9 (3-4 in NEC) last season and return a pair of All-NEC First Team selection in senior Jesslyn Joseph and junior Caitlin Delaney. Averi Farhat also earned all-rookie honors in 2015. Delaney tied for the team lead in goals last season with 34.

Marist, which was picked to finish fourth in the MAAC Preseason Poll, is 1-1 to start 2016. The Red Foxes opened the season with a 15-12 win over Sacred Heart and most recently dropped a 16-5 decision at No. 3 Syracuse on Sunday.

Allison Gionta, who entered the 2016 season 60 goals shy of tying the Marist all-time scoring record, leads the team with 11 points on eight goals and three assists. Teammate Kara McHugh also has eight goals and nine points overall. Gionta and McHugh have combined for 16 of Marist's 20 goals this season.

Two goalkeepers have started each game, but Abigail Witczak has played the majority of minutes in net and owns a 9.72 goals against average. She had the win in the victory against Sacred Heart and broke the Marist record for wins, picking up the 23rd of her career against the Pioneers.

Head coach Jessica O'Brien is in her sixth season at Marist and has been named MAAC Coach of the Year twice.

WHO'S NEXT
Vermont heads west to continue a five-game road swing. The Catamounts will spend spring break in California, playing three games on the West Coast. UVM faces USC on March 6, is at UC Davis on March 8 and wraps up the trip with a game at California on March 11.
