BURLINGTON, Vt. – Top-ranked Boston College (32-0-0, 22-0-0) skated to a 3-0 win over Vermont (8-22-2, 6-14-2) Sunday afternoon as the Eagles clinched their third consecutive Hockey East regular season title at Gutterson Fieldhouse.

The Eagles doubled their lead with 5:13 left in the second period. Tori Sullivan forced a turnover on the forecheck and Kristyn Cappizzano gathered the puck before setting Meghan Grieves up in the slot. Grieves fired a low wrist shot past Litchfield for her ninth goal of the season.
Boston College closed out the scoring 39 seconds into the final frame. Alex Carpenter setup behind the Vermont net and fed a quick pass to Kenzie Kent. She fired a shot from the side of the net that fooled Litchfield as Kent collected her 12
th goal of the season. Carpenter's assist was her team-leading 72
nd point of the year.
Boston College netminder Katie Burt made nine third period saves to preserve her 12
th shutout and 27
th win of the year. Litchfield made a season-high 39 saves for Vermont.
"Boston College is a fantastic hockey team and we played the game we wanted to play to give ourselves a chance to compete," said head coach
Jim Plumer. "This was one of our more focused efforts of the season and I'm proud of the way our team executed our game plan."
Vermont enters the final weekend of regular season action in a three-way tie for fifth place in Hockey East with Providence and New Hampshire. The Catamounts own the tiebreaker against both teams.
The Catamounts close out the regular season with their first-ever trip to Merrimack College for a two-game series. Vermont will face the Warriors at 7 p.m. on Friday February 19 and then again at 4 p.m. on Saturday February 20.
