SMITHFIELD, R.I. – The Vermont women's swimming & diving team dominated the Bryant Bulldogs on Sunday afternoon at the Chace Athletic Center Pool and posted a 71-point road victory. UVM remained perfect and improved to 5-0 (3-0 AE) on the season, while Bryant fell to 4-3 (0-2 NEC) after the loss.

Gerry Cournoyer, who was coaching in his home state on Sunday.

Senior
Sarah Mantz registered a pair of individual freestyle victories on Sunday, winning the 50-yard free in 24.86 seconds to narrowly edge
Sierra Sexton (24.91) and clinching the 100 free in 53.04. Mantz was second overall in the 200 free (1:56.04) behind teammate
Kelly Lennon, who posted a time of 1:55.21. Lennon was also the champion of the 500 free by more than eight seconds with a time of 5:12.31.

Shannon Cowley captured the 100-yard breaststroke for Vermont with a time of 1:07.00 and was roughly a second ahead of teammate
Haley Gula (1:07.94). Gula (2:27.03) edged Cowley (2:27.59) by half a second to win the 200 breast.

Only two hundredths of a second separated teammates
Kira Hancock (59.64) and
Dani Rocheleau (59.66) atop the podium in the 100 backstroke. Rookie
Morgan Montgomery claimed a narrow victory in the 200 backstroke by hitting the wall in 2:08.40, less than a half second ahead of Bryant's Nicole Salzano.
Courtney Gray swam the 100 butterfly in under a minute with a mark of 59.99 to win the event, while
Alexy Novelli claimed the 200 fly in 2:11.02 as UVM swept the podium. In the last individual event of the meet, sophomore
Chandler Brandes tapped the wall first in the 200 IM with a time of 2:15.60.

Gray, Cowley, Rocheleau, and Hancock opened the day by combining to win the 200 medley relay by more than three seconds with a final time of 1:48.78.

Vermont travels to Boston next weekend to compete in the Terrier Invitational from Friday (Nov. 18) to Sunday (Nov. 20). Preliminary competition is set to begin at 10 a.m. each day at Boston University's Aquatics Center. UVM is then off until Jan. 7, 2017 when it faces UMBC and Howard in Baltimore.Â
