BURLINGTON, Vt. – The Vermont women's swimming & diving team won 13 of 16 events on Saturday against Binghamton and cruised past the Bearcats 177-105 at Forbush Natatorium. The Catamounts begin the season 1-0 after the America East victory.

UVM started the morning with a convincing win in the 200 medley relay thanks to
Courtney Gray,
Shannon Cowley,
Dani Rocheleau, and
Sarah Mantz (1:46.89).

Mantz later won a pair of individual freestyle events for the Catamounts, claiming the 50 free in 24.15 seconds and the 100 free in 52.32. Mantz fell a half second short in the 200 free (1:54.09) to teammate
Kelly Lennon, who won in 1:53.57. Lennon was also victorious in the 500 free, winning by 14 seconds with a time of 5:09.65.

Gray (58.89) and Rocheleau (58.94) were separated by just five hundredths of a second in the 100 backstroke for first and second.
Morgan Montgomery was third in the 100 back but won the 200-yard event with a time of 2:06.49.

Haley Gula was narrowly edged by Cowley (1:06.99) in the 100 breaststroke, but took the 200 breast by more than five seconds in 2:26.53. Gray won her second individual event with the 100 butterfly in 57.70, while
Alexy Novelli (2:08.22) clinched the 200 fly by three and a half seconds.

Chandler Brandes outlasted the competition in the 1000 free, touching the wall in a time of 10:48.57 ahead of teammate
Kristina Posnick (10:53.70).

In the diving events,
Madison Soucy had the highest score in the 1-meter at 201.65 and was second overall in the 3-meter (185.45).
