Burlington, Vt. – Vermont fought off cold and damp conditions and held one of the top offenses in the league to only six shots on goal, but the Catamounts were topped by Hartford 1-0 on Thursday night in conference action at Virtue Field.

The first half kept both offenses in check with only eight total shots.
Savana Yurick had an opportunity for the Catamounts in the 10th minute, but her attempt was stopped by Hartford keeper Jessica Jorg (4 saves).

In the 20th minute, Vermont goalie
Coco Speckmaier (5 saves) came through with a big save to keep the scoreboard reading all zeros. Julia Carr positioned herself in the box and made a right-footed touch on the ball, but Speckmaier caught the shot for the save.

The Catamounts were on the attack midway into the second half.
Julia Smith made a pair of dribbling moves to create space in the corner of the box and lofted a shot towards the net, but the attempt flew high and wide of the far left corner.

In the 64th minute,
Sarah Martin had a valid attempt on a free kick, but her line drive took one bounce and right into the hands of Jorg.

Carr tallied her sixth goal of the season in the 74th minute. Haley Nolan dished a low pass to her right at the top of the box where Carr lined a one-timer into the right side of the net past a diving Speckmaier.

Vermont turned up the tempo and eyed the counter in the subsequent minutes. Yurick tried for the equalizer, but the shot ran too wide of the goal.
