Siena HighlightsRELAY RECORDS FALL AGAINST SIENAA pair of relay records fell last Saturday as UVM registered a 180-110 victory over Siena in the Catamounts' first home meet of the season. A new freshman record was established in the 400 yard medley relay as

Haley Gula,
Julia DeGregorio, and
Audrey Shenkin finished in 3:58.86. UVM's team of
Elena Melloni,
Shannon Cowley,
Courtney Gray, and
Christa Weaver won the event in 3:55.77. Vermont also set a new pool record in the 200 freestyle relay as
Sarah Mantz, Gray,
Kira Hancock, and Weaver posted a time of 1:36.83.
PRESTON WINS SECOND WEEKLY AWARDMaggie Preston was named the America East Diver of the Week for the second time this season on Tuesday. For the third straight week, Preston won both diving events for the Catamounts on Saturday in a 70-point win over Siena at Forbush Natatorium. The senior claimed the 1-meter event with a score of 255.82 and won the 3-meter event with a total score of 229.72.
SCOUTING MAINEThe Black Bears defeated Rhode Island 180-118 on Oct. 24 in their only previous meet. Shayla Klesinger won a pair of freestyle distance events and the 200-yard IM for Maine against the Rams. Last year, the Black Bears finished fifth at the America East Championships with 433.5 points. Taylor Sharp led the way with a pair of third place finishes at the event, which was held in Worcester, Massachusetts.
LAST YEAR'S MEETINGLast season in Orono, Vermont defeated both Maine, 172-128, and Boston College, 206-94, in a tri-meet at Wallace Pool.
Shannon Cowley set a new UVM freshman record in the 200 breast, claiming first place in a time of 2:24.08, and also raced to a first-place finish in the 200 IM in 2:12.24.
Maggie Preston swept the diving competition for the third straight meet on her way to posting her top scores of the season in both events.
WHO'S NEXTVermont competes in a pair of meets next weekend. The Catamounts travel to face Central Connecticut State on Saturday, Nov. 14 and host Bryant on Sunday, Nov. 15. Both events are scheduled to begin at 12 p.m. The Bryant meet will be streamed for free at AmericaEast.TV as UVM hosts its Rally Against Cancer Meet presented by Otter Creek Awnings and Vermont Custom Closets.
