With the victory, the Catamounts earn the No. 2 seed in the upcoming America East Playoffs and a first round bye. UVM will host the winner of the No. 3 UMBC/No. 6 UNH match on Wednesday (Nov. 11) at 7 p.m. at Virtue Field. The game will mark the first night match at Virtue Field in the program's history.

Vermont finished the regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record and 3-2-2 in America East. The Catamounts earned the tiebreaker with UMBC by virtue of UVM's 3-0 win over the Retrievers back on October 14 at Virtue Field. New Hampshire fell to 10-4-3 and finished league play with a 3-3-1 mark to grab the No. 6 seed.

"The execution was excellent tonight by the guys and the attitude was right. This was a huge win for us as a program. The coaching staff deserves credit as well, Rob Dow in particular. The prep was good and he put together a really good game plan and broke it down well for the guys. I hope the community will come out for the semifinal game under the lights at Virtue, it's a big moment for our program," said Vermont head coach Jesse Cormier.

Wright scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 16th minute of the match. He picked up the ball near midfield and ripped a shot to the upper 90 on the right side of the goal to give Vermont a 1-0 lead.

Vermont took the 1-0 lead into the break despite trailing in shots, 4-2, to the Wildcats.

Bernard Yeboah added his fourth goal of the season in the 68th minute finishing off a feed from Lamanna to push UVM's lead to 2-0.

UNH sliced the lead to one in the 79th minute. Chris Arling was on the receiving end of a through ball from Connor Pauley and netted his fourth goal of the year.

Lamanna added the insurance goal for the Catamounts in the 86th minute. He combined with Wright for a 2-on-1 breakaway. Wright slotted the ball to Lamanna and he finished to the right side of the net for his fifth tally of the season.

Greg Walton was credited with six saves in the match. Walton made a critical save with 10 minutes remaining in the match to preserve UVM's one-goal lead. Andrew Pesci made one stop in the New Hampshire net.
