DURHAM, N.H. – Brian Wright and
Stefan Lamanna each recorded a goal and an assist to lead the Vermont Catamounts to a 3-1 victory at New Hampshire in the regular season finale on Wednesday.

With the victory, the Catamounts earn the No. 2 seed in the upcoming America East Playoffs and a first round bye. UVM will host the winner of the No. 3 UMBC/No. 6 UNH match on Wednesday (Nov. 11) at 7 p.m. at Virtue Field. The game will mark the first night match at Virtue Field in the program's history.

Vermont finished the regular season with a 9-6-3 overall record and 3-2-2 in America East. The Catamounts earned the tiebreaker with UMBC by virtue of UVM's 3-0 win over the Retrievers back on October 14 at Virtue Field. New Hampshire fell to 10-4-3 and finished league play with a 3-3-1 mark to grab the No. 6 seed.

Wright scored his team-leading eighth goal of the season in the 16th minute of the match. He picked up the ball near midfield and ripped a shot to the upper 90 on the right side of the goal to give Vermont a 1-0 lead.

Vermont took the 1-0 lead into the break despite trailing in shots, 4-2, to the Wildcats.

Bernard Yeboah added his fourth goal of the season in the 68th minute finishing off a feed from Lamanna to push UVM's lead to 2-0.

UNH sliced the lead to one in the 79th minute. Chris Arling was on the receiving end of a through ball from Connor Pauley and netted his fourth goal of the year.

Lamanna added the insurance goal for the Catamounts in the 86th minute. He combined with Wright for a 2-on-1 breakaway. Wright slotted the ball to Lamanna and he finished to the right side of the net for his fifth tally of the season.

Greg Walton was credited with six saves in the match. Walton made a critical save with 10 minutes remaining in the match to preserve UVM's one-goal lead. Andrew Pesci made one stop in the New Hampshire net.

Jesse Cormier's 12 seasons at the helm of the program … UVM is the No. 2 seed in the playoffs for the sixth time in program history and first time since 2007 when the Catamounts won its last America East title … Vermont will be in the semifinals for the second straight year, UVM lost at top-seeded UMBC, 3-1, last season in the semifinal round.
