CatamounTV Highlights: Niagara | Buffalo

Sunday at Mohegan: Lamonte Bearden scored a game-high 20 points to lead Buffalo to a 77-71 win over Vermont on Nov. 22 as part of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament at the Mohegan Sun Arena. Trae Bell-Haynes paced the Catamounts with 15 points as they fall to 2-3 on the young season.  Ernie Duncan, Kurt Steidl and Cam Ward all joined Ball-Haynes in double figures in the contest. The Cats clawed out of an eight-point hole with 6:12 to go on a Darren Payen dunk and tied the game at 57 but several Vermont turnovers down the stretch and Buffalo's near perfection at the line sealed the win for the Bulls. Bell-Haynes was named to the Hall of Fame Tipoff Springfield Bracket All-Tournament Team.

About Florida: Florida was predicted to finish sixth in the Southestern Conference (SEC) this season. After starting the season 3-0, Florida fell to #21 Purdue in the title game of the Naismith Bracket of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament at Mohegan Sun on Sunday. John Egbunu led the Gators with 19 points and seven rebounds. Senior forward Dorian Finney-Smith was named a preseason All-SEC first team selection on the heels of a breakout year in 2014-15 that saw him lead the team in scoring, rebounding and 3-point shooting. First-year head coach Mike White was hired back in May after long-time coach Billy Donovan was hired as the head coach of the NBA's Oklahoma City Thunder. White came to Gainesville after four seasons at Louisiana Tech where he had a 101-40 record.

Series History: Vermont is 0-2 against the Gators all-time and this will be the first meeting between the two teams in Gainesville.

Last Meeting vs. Florida: On Nov. 29, 2007, Florida's Nick Calathes scored 21 points to lead the two-time defending national champion to an 86-61 victory over UVM at the St. Pete Times Forum. Mike Trimboli paced the Catamounts with a game-high 23 points and Marqus Blakely added 16 points and nine rebounds. Vermont received a pre-game talk from then Tampa Bay Lightning star Martin St. Louis, a 1997 UVM graduate.

Vermont and the Sunshine: Wednesday's game will be the just the fifth game Vermont has played in the state of Florida. UVM is 2-2 in those games.

Terrific Trae: Sophomore speedster Trae Bell-Haynes picked up his first weekly award this season earning America East Player of the Week honors on Nov. 23 for his efforts in a 2-1 week for UVM. Bell-Haynes averaged 21.3 points per game to go along with 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 assists per contest. He scored a career-high 28 points against Niagara in the semifinals of the Hall of Fame Tipoff Tournament.
