"Coming off Saturday's game we felt it was important to get a lot of guys who haven't seen a lot of time into today's match. We depended on the depth of our squad tonight and they came together beautifully. They played hard and together and epitomized what soccer is about, a team game. The really came together and performed at a high level. I'm proud that every guy gave their best effort against a team that's number one in their league," said Vermont head coach
Jesse Cormier.
Vermont took its only lead of the game in the 33rd minute. A ball into the box was trapped down by a Hartwick defender, but Maker was able to force a turnover, won the ball and fired in a shot the beat goalkeeper Lenny Wilson to give UVM the lead. It was Maker's first career goal at Vermont after transferring into the program from Boston University.

The Catamount defense made the goal stand up the rest of the match.
