VERMONT MEN'S SOCCER WEEKLY NOTEBOOKThe Vermont men's soccer team picked up three important points with a 2-1 victory at Hartford on Saturday. The Catamounts continue America East action hosting defending champion UMBC on Wednesday (Oct. 14) at 2:30 p.m. in a rematch of an America East Semifinal game from 2014. UVM will also travel to Stony Brook for a 1 p.m. match on Sunday (Oct. 18).

Bernard Yeboah was named the America East Co-Player of the Week on Monday. He scored once and added an assist in UVM's 2-1 victory at Hartford. The win snapped the Hawks' 16-game home unbeaten streak. Yeboah is tied for second on the team in goals (3) and has seven points this season.

Greg Walton remains the team's top goalkeeper, playing all but 16 minutes this season. He owns a 0.66 goals against average.
ABOUT UMBC UMBC (7-2-2, 1-0-1 AE) is one of two unbeaten teams in America East to start the week. The Retrievers, the defending America East Champions, advanced to the College Cup Final Four last season. The Retrievers are unbeaten in their last five matches (4-0-1). Darius Madison and Kennedy O'Shea are the top two scorers for the Retrievers. Madison, a transfer from Virginia, has a team-high six goals and 15 points, while O'Shea has recorded 11 points on four goals and four assists. Bernard Yeboah on Monday, is the team's top goalkeeper. He has posted four shutouts this season and owns a 0.76 goals against average.
THE SERIESThe all-time series record between Vermont and UMBC stands at 4-4-1. The Retrievers have won three straight and four of the last six matches against the Catamounts. The two teams met in the 2014 America East Semifinals at UMBC, the Retrievers came away with a 3-1 victory.
ABOUT STONY BROOKStony Brook begins the week with a 4-5-2 record and is 1-1-0 in America East. Martin Giordano and Vince Erdel lead the team in scoring. Each player has five goals and three assists for 13 points. Alejandro Fritz has a team-high five assists for the Seawolves.
