DURHAM, N.H. – Brooke Murphy scored 15 minutes into the match to lift the New Hampshire Wildcats past Vermont, 1-0, in the America East women's soccer opener for both teams.
Vermont falls to 2-7-1 overall and 0-1-0 in America East. The Wildcats open league play with a 1-0-0 mark and are 4-6-0 on the year.
Murphy was able to finish off a pass from teammate Megan Ledwith early in the first half. The New Hampshire defense was able to make the goal stand up the rest of the way.
Mimi Borkan was credited with four saves for UNH, while
Ally Ramos made six stops for the Catamounts. The Wildcats held a 23-9 advantage in shots, and a 7-4 edge in shots on frame.
Vermont returns to action on Thursday (Oct. 2) when it hosts defending America East Champion UMBC at 3 p.m. at Virtue Field. The game will be streamed online in HD for free via
