VERMONT WOMEN'S HOCKEY NOTEBOOKThe University of Vermont women's hockey team (8-6-1, 1-4-0 HEA) returns to Gutterson Fieldhouse this weekend for an important Hockey East series against Maine (5-8-2, 4-2-1 HEA). The Catamounts face the Black Bears at 4 p.m. on Saturday and 2 p.m. on Sunday in the team's first matchups of the season.
ZUBACK HAVING A NOVEMBER TO REMEMBERSenior forward
Brittany Zuback has seven goals and three assists for 10 points in seven games this month. She is currently tied for first in the NCAA with five power play goals this season. Her 11 goals overall is currently fourth in Hockey East. Zuback had a program record eight-game goal-scoring streak snapped in the Catamounts last game against Northeastern.
COLANG LEADS CATAMOUNTS IN SCORINGJunior
Dayna Colang, in the midst of her first full-time season as a forward, is leading the Catamounts in scoring with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points in 15 games. She is tied for first in Hockey East with eight power play points.
PP CLICKING FOR THE CATAMOUNTSThe Catamounts power play is 10
th in the NCAA, they are converting 21.1% (12/57) of their opportunities. Vermont is tied for first on the power play in Hockey East with No. 1 Boston College. The Catamounts have scored at least one power play goal in five of their last six games.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTMaine: The Black Bears are 1-3-0 in their last four games but Maine is 3-1-1 in its last five Hockey East games including wins against Northeastern and Boston U. Maine currently sits in fourth place in Hockey East with a record of 4-2-1. Maine is one win shy of its league total from last season.
The Black Bears have had balanced scoring this season, eight skaters have at least five points. Junior forward Audra Richards leads the team in scoring with four goals and four assists for eight points in 15 games.
Senior goaltender Meghann Treacy has seen the majority of action in the Black Bears net. She has a 4-7-1 record but an impressive .932 save percentage and 2.22 goals-against average.
Vermont is 14-21-6 all-time against the Black Bears. The Catamounts won all four meetings with Maine last season including the teams' triple-overtime game in the Hockey East quarterfinals. Vermont is 5-2-1 against Maine under head coach

OVERTIME CLASSIC REVISITEDThis weekend is the first matchup between Maine and Vermont since their historic triple overtime game last season in the Hockey East Quarterfinals.
Brittany Zuback scored with 2:48 left in the third overtime to end the sixth longest Division I women's game of all-time and the longest in Hockey East history. It was also the Catamounts first-ever playoff win as a varsity program.
CATAMOUNTS CLOSING STRONGVermont has outscored its opponents 23-14 in the third period of games this season. 53.5% of Vermont's offense has been generated in the third period. It continues a trend as last season the third period was their best. The Catamounts outscored its opponents by 11 over the course the season and by 15 in league play.
CATAMOUNTS LEAD HOCKEY EAST IN ATTENDANCE For the second straight season Vermont is leading Hockey East in attendance. The Catamounts are averaging 511 fans per home game. Only two other Hockey East teams are averaging more than 300 fans.
WOMEN'S HOCKEY ALUMNAE WEEKENDThe Catamounts will be hosting their annual alumnae weekend January 30 to February 1. The weekend will include games against Northeastern and Providence, an alumnae game, open practice, and reception at the Windjammer.
