FINAL SCORE: Vermont 169, Siena 119 | Results
LOUDONVILLE, N.Y.  – The Vermont swimming and diving team set three Siena pool records on its way to a 169-119 victory over the Saints on Saturday. The Catamounts improve to 2-1 on the year after claiming their second straight victory, while Siena falls to 1-2 overall.
 
UVM won 12 of 16 events and set pool records in the 200 medley relay, 200 free relay and 100 breaststroke. Jess Gorham, Shannon Cowley, Courtney Gray and Christa Weaver opened the meet with a victory in the 200 medley relay, clocking in at 1:48.37 to set a new pool record. In the meet's final event, Andie Blaser, Gray, Katie Adams and Weaver combined to swim the 200 free relay in 1:37.60 to set another Siena pool record. Cowley claimed the other pool record of the afternoon for the Catamounts, swimming the 100 breast in 1:06.53.
 
The Catamounts claimed the top three spots in both the 100 and 200-yard freestyle events. Abby Holmquist (54.04), Adams (55.11) and Diane Brown (55.74) finished 1-2-3 in the 100 to pace Vermont. In the 200, Weaver (1:56.70), Blaser (1:59.83) and Bri Sullivan (2:02.46) registered the top three times in the event.
 
Elena Melloni posted first-place finishes in both of the backstroke events on the afternoon. The junior won the 100 back in 1:01.49, and followed with a victory in the 200 in a time of 2:09.22.
 
In the diving competition, Maggie Preston won both events for the second consecutive meet. Preston posted her top score of the season in the 1-meter (230.40), and also claimed victory in the 3-meter (226.70) to round out the sweep.
 
Vermont earned the top two spots in events six and seven, the 200 fly and 50 free. Alexy Novelli clocked in at 2:13.67 to win the 200 fly, while Ali McClure finished second with a time of 2:15.30. In the 50 free, Adams registered a first-place showing in 25.09, and Gray finished just behind her to earn second place in a time of 25.15.
 
Blaser posted Vermont's top finish in the 100 fly, notching a first-place time of 58.93.
 
The Catamounts head to Orono next weekend for a tri-meet with Maine and Boston College on November 8 at 11 a.m. A full recap and results will be available at UVMathletics.com following the meet.
