BEMIDJI, Minn. – Four players scored for the Bemidji State Beavers as they continued their undefeated start to the season with a 4-0 win over Vermont Sunday afternoon in non-conference action at the Sanford Center.
 
The Beavers opened the scoring quickly in the first period. With Rachael Ade in the box for hooking Whitney Wivoda scored the eventual game-winner on the power play 3:37 into the first for her second goal of the season.
 
Senior forward Alexandria Citrowske doubled the Beavers lead with 2:14 left in the opening stanza. Ivana Bilic and Megan Lushanko assisted on her first goal of the season.
 
Bemidji State stretched its lead to three in the second period with Stephanie Anderson's team-leading third goal of the season 6:42 in the middle frame. Reilly Fawcett earned the lone assist on her tally.
 
Janessa Philipczyk closed out the scoring for the Beavers with her second goal of the season 5:54 into the third period. Fawcett earned another assist on Philipczyk's goal. Fawcett led all players with two points on the afternoon.
 
Bemidji State goaltender Brittni Mowat earned her fourth career shutout with a 28 save effort. Vermont's Madison Litchfield made 33 saves for the Catamounts.
 
"It was certainly not our best effort, especially when we played such a good game last night," said head coach Jim Plumer. "Credit to Bemidji for playing tough and smart. There is a lot to learn from this game."
 
Vermont closes out its three-game road trip to start the season next Saturday at Rensselaer. Vermont will face the Engineers at 3 p.m. on Saturday and then the teams will travel to Burlington for a rematch on Sunday (2 p.m.). Sunday will be "Team Poster Day" with postgame autographs courtesy of the UPS Store Downtown.
