Former Catamount swimmer Katie Heenan '12 joined the Vermont women's swimming & diving staff as Director of Operations prior to the 2015-16 season and enters her fifth season in 2019-20. The 2019-20 campaign will be her first as Volunteer Assistant Coach.
As a rookie during the 2008-09 season, Heenan finished in the top six at the America East Championships in three different events and was named to the America East All-Conference Team.
Â
She was a member of the first-place 800 freestyle relay team that broke the conference, UVM and Boston University pool records and was a member of the 200 freestyle relay that also broke a school mark. Heenan still holds the program's freshman record in the 1,000 yard freestyle from that championship meet.
Â
Heenan finished in the top four in the 500 freestyle nine times as a sophomore in 2009-10. She earned eighth place in the 1,650 freestyle at the America East Championships during her junior season, and placed ninth overall in the event as both a sophomore and senior.
Â
A native of Clarendon Hills, Illinois, Heenan has been working locally as a teacher at Mt. Mansfield Union High School since graduation. She has also served as an assistant coach at Green Mountain Aquatics.
